Tax
Everyone earning in the UK will pay tax. Tax levels for 2007-08 are shown below:
- There is a tax-free threshold of £5,225
- Between £5,226 and £7,455 you will be taxed at a rate of 10%
- Between £7,456 an d£39,825 tax is at the rate of 22%
- Over £39,826 tax is at the rate of 40%
Until you receive your National Insurance number, you may be taxed at a higher 'emergency' rate, but any additional tax you pay will be refunded.
