Entry Clearance Certificates
Following the introduction of new regulations relating to UK immigration laws you are now required to obtain an ‘Entry Clearance Certificate’ in addition to any type of work permit (sponsorship) enabling you to work in the UK. This is only applicable if you are going to be in the UK longer than 6 months.
NB: It is rare for work permits to be granted for less than 12 months. ‘Entry Clearance Certificate’ is another term used for visas and is not in addition to ‘Holiday Working Visas’ & ‘Ancestry Visas’ – these are ‘Entry Clearance Certificates’ in themselves. You will now have this certificate pasted into your passport rather than a stamp placed in your passport, as was previously the case. You can obtain an ‘Entry Clearances Certificate’ in person from the British Consulate in Canberra which will only take a day or you can apply on line but must allow up to 4 weeks. British or EU passport holders do not require ‘Entry Clearance Certificates’.
