Tracy Cranston, Agency Nurse of the Year - Nursing Times Awards 2006

We are delighted to announce that Tracey Cranston from our Gateshead branch has been awarded ‘Agency Nurse of the Year’ at the Nursing Times Awards 2006. This brand new category for 2006 presented an opportunity for agency nurses throughout the country to be recognised for their vital and often unsung contribution to the nursing profession.

The event took place on Monday, 6th November at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London. Speaking to Tracey after the event she was ‘a little overwhelmed, but absolutely delighted at winning the award’!

Nurses entering the competition for this award went through two stages: firstly there was the application where they needed to evidence training and career development, how they have made a difference within their profession and the qualities required of an agency nurse – flexibility, self-motivation, reliability and assertiveness. Five shortlisted finalists were then invited down to London to deliver a 20 minute presentation of their work.

Holding all of these qualities the judges were very impressed and believed that Tracey more than embodied what they were looking for:

‘Tracey has accumulated a huge breadth and variety of agency experience over almost a decade,’ judges said. ‘She has made the most of her opportunities and exudes professionalism and passion for the job. Tracey is not only an ambassador for agency nursing but for the profession as a whole.’

Samantha Richards from out Fylde Coast office was also a selected finalist for the award, so Advantage Healthcare are very proud of their nurses and would like to offer Tracey a special congratulations on being ‘Agency Nurse of the Year 2006’!
